Commissioning Project Manager

A Commissioning Project Manager is required within Children’s Services. As the commissioning project manager you will lead commissioning transformation work aligned to the Safety Valve Programme, focusing on both Pre-16 and Post-16 learners with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). You will shape and deliver commissioning strategies that improve outcomes for children and young people, ensure value for money, and reduce reliance on high-cost placements.
As a commissioning project manager you will lead commissioning projects that support the development of sustainable, needs-led services for children and young people with SEND. Drive improvements in service delivery through strategic planning, stakeholder engagement, and evidence-based decision-making. Support the implementation of frameworks and agreements that enhance quality, consistency, and cost control across commissioned services. Contribute to the development of local and regional commissioning arrangements, ensuring alignment with sufficiency strategies and preparation for adulthood pathways. Monitor and evaluate commissioned services to ensure they meet agreed outcomes and deliver best value.
Requirements Proven experience in a commissioning or project management role within a Local Authority, particularly in Children’s Services or SEND. Strong understanding of commissioning processes for education placements, therapies, and transition services.
