They do a lot of work on the national grid/SSE framework, completing detailed design of substations, and converter stations. They also do a lot of work on HVDC projects, as well as large portal frame buildings on the energy project sites.
My client is a leading global engineering services firm who are widely respected for their multidisciplinary expertise, commitment to sustainability, and leadership in forward-thinking design.
This is a senior-level role working alongside the Principal Structural Engineer. You will take ownership of critical aspects of the design, lead technical coordination, and contribute to the strategic management of both design and project resources.
Your Impact:
- Take senior responsibility for the delivery of structural engineering designs, ensuring quality, technical compliance, and alignment with client and regulatory requirements.
- Lead and coordinate structural design within a multidisciplinary team environment, ensuring seamless integration with other engineering disciplines.
- Act as the primary structural engineering contact for clients on day-to-day project matters.
- Support the Principal/Lead Structural Engineer in overseeing design budgets, tracking team performance, and contributing to contractual and financial project management.
- Produce and review detailed technical designs, specifications, and reports that meet my client’s quality and governance standards.
- Apply deep knowledge of material behaviour, construction techniques, and industry standards to inform practical, sustainable, and innovative solutions.
- Prepare clear and compelling design presentations, feasibility studies, and conceptual drawings to communicate your vision and approach.
What You’ll Bring:
- Preferably a Chartered Engineer (CEng) with a recognised professional body, or on track for imminent chartership.
- Strong command of structural analysis using both traditional hand calculations and modern software tools, with clear awareness of method limitations.
- Excellent understanding of structural materials and the ability to select appropriate materials based on design requirements.
- Hands-on knowledge of construction practices, temporary works, sequencing, and site operations—ideally backed by real site experience.
- Proficiency in interpreting and applying relevant Codes of Practice, technical standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Confident communicator and presenter, able to convey technical ideas and concepts effectively through written reports, sketches, and visual media.
Why join?
- A collaborative, innovative culture that values your input and ideas
- A clear pathway to further professional development and leadership
- Exciting projects across a wide range of scales
- Competitive salary and benefits tailored to your experience
