Rate: £130–£200 per day (DOE)

We are working with a specialist provision in Gateshead seeking a PMLD Teacher for a maternity cover position starting in September. This is a small, highly focused class setting where teaching is tailored entirely around the needs of each learner.
You will be responsible for a group of three pupils aged approximately 5–15, all with profound and multiple learning difficulties. The role is ideal for a teacher who values creativity, adaptability, and highly personalised approaches to learning.
The role:
- Plan and deliver highly individualised, sensory-based learning
- Adapt teaching to meet complex and profound learning needs
- Lead and support a small team of Learning Support Assistants (LSAs)
- Work closely with therapists and external professionals
- Support pupils in achieving EHCP targets and developmental milestones
- Create a safe, calm, structured, and engaging learning environment
- Monday to Thursday
- Full-day teaching commitment
- Maternity cover starting September
- Experience working with PMLD or pupils with complex needs
- Confidence leading a small team within the classroom
- A calm, patient, and highly adaptable teaching style
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Experience working with multi-agency professionals
- QTS/QTLS
- Competitive daily rate (£130–£200 DOE)
