Location: Godfrey Road, Newport, NP20 4UR
Hours: 37 hours per week
Contract: 16 weeks, starting 30/06/2025
Rate: PAYE: £14.36 per hour / Umbrella: £18.28 per hour

Are you an organised, detail-oriented professional with strong administrative skills? We’re seeking an Administrative Assistant to join our dynamic team in Newport on a temporary basis. This role offers the chance to support vital Social Services operations, working in a fast-paced office environment at Godfrey Road.

About the Role
As an Administrative Assistant, you’ll provide essential clerical and financial support to ensure the smooth running of our service. Your key responsibilities will include:
  • Taking accurate minutes at meetings and producing clear, concise records.
  • Processing payments and inputting or analysing financial information.
  • Managing correspondence, including emails, and maintaining accurate records using Microsoft Office.
  • Handling sensitive information with strict adherence to Data Protection principles and confidentiality.
  • Supporting the team with general administrative tasks, including analysing and presenting information.
  • Working flexibly to assist other teams within the service area as needed.
  • Contributing to a positive team environment by sharing best practice and supporting colleagues.
About You
We’re looking for a proactive and adaptable individual with:
  • Proven administrative or financial experience in an office environment, ideally within local government or Social Services.
  • Excellent IT skills, with proficiency in Microsoft Office (word processing, spreadsheets, and email).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact tactfully and diplomatically.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in record-keeping.
  • The ability to work independently, use initiative, and thrive as part of a team.
  • Knowledge of Data Protection principles and an understanding of Social Services.

  • Welsh language skills are desirable but not essential, as the organisation supports high-quality service delivery in both Welsh and English.
