*** Temp to Perm – Teacher Training opportunity
*** £90 per day initially, leading to £23,000 - £25,000
*** State-of-the-art secondary school, Central Birmingham
*** Academic Coach to Unqualified Teacher to Maths ECT

The Role:
You will deliver targeted maths support that plugs straight into classroom teaching. You will run short 1:1 and small-group sessions for KS3 and KS4, model clear worked examples, and guide practice that builds accuracy and speed. You will use simple diagnostics to spot misconceptions in algebra, fractions and ratio, geometry and data, then fix them with step-by-step routines and retrieval. You will prepare lean resources that mirror department methods and feed gains back into lessons. As you grow, you will observe expert teachers, co-plan sequences, teach segments, and move to leading full lessons with close mentoring. You will track impact with brief notes, align next steps with class teachers, and keep behaviour and safeguarding procedures tight.

The Candidate & Requirements:
You are methodical, organised and precise in your explanations. You act on feedback quickly and keep sessions purposeful.

  • Degree, 2:2 or above in a maths related degree.
  • Communication, clear written and spoken English.
  • Enhanced DBS held already or willingness to obtain.
  • Desire to work in education/with children, strong intent to gain QTS in Maths.
  • Experience working with children, tutoring or mentoring is desirable but not essential.

The School:
This Central Birmingham secondary has calm corridors and consistent routines that make learning predictable. Maths is well sequenced in small steps with regular low-stakes checks and shared methods across classes, so intervention aligns with teaching. The department provides item banks, model solutions, diagnostic quizzes and manipulatives where helpful. New colleagues receive a structured induction, weekly CPD and frequent coaching with actionable targets. A trained mentor supports planning, assessment and behaviour routines. The school has a strong record of developing graduates into paid ITT and then into permanent ECT roles.
