Head of Humanities – Secondary School – Redbridge 
Are you an ambitious and experienced Humanities teacher looking for the next step in your career? A high-achieving secondary school in Redbridge is seeking a dynamic and passionate Head of Humanities to lead their department from September 2025. This is an exciting opportunity to shape the curriculum, drive academic excellence, and inspire students across subjects such as History, Geography, and Religious Studies. 
 
Role Overview: 
  • Position: Head of Humanities 
  • Location: Redbridge 
  • Start Date: September 2025 
  • Contract: Full-Time / Permanent 
  • Salary: M1 to UPS3 plus TLR 1a (Outer London) 
 
About You: 
  • Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and has a strong track record of delivering outstanding lessons in one or more Humanities subjects. 
  • Has experience leading a team or is ready to take the next step into a leadership role. 
  • Is passionate about developing an engaging and ambitious Humanities curriculum
  • Has excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to inspire both students and staff. 
  • Can drive high academic standards and student outcomes across the department. 
  • Is committed to fostering an inclusive and stimulating learning environment
 
Your Responsibilities: 
  • Lead and manage the Humanities department, ensuring high-quality teaching and learning. 
  • Develop and implement innovative schemes of work that challenge and inspire students. 
  • Support and mentor staff to enhance teaching practices and professional development. 
  • Monitor student progress and attainment, using data to drive improvements. 
  • Work closely with the senior leadership team to contribute to whole-school strategies
  • Foster a passion for Humanities through extracurricular activities, trips, and enrichment opportunities.
