Job Description
A specialist secondary setting in the South Birmingham area is seeking an experienced and resilient Behaviour Mentor to support Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 students with SEMH needs. This is an ASAP start and a fantastic opportunity for a Behaviour Mentor who is passionate about helping young people overcome barriers to education and develop positive behaviours for learning.
As a Behaviour Mentor, you will work closely with students who may present challenging behaviour, emotional regulation difficulties, or disengagement from learning. You will provide consistent support throughout the school day, helping pupils remain in class, manage behaviour, and build positive relationships with staff and peers.
Job Role:
- Supporting KS3 and KS4 students with SEMH needs
- Providing 1-2-1 and small-group behaviour support
- Implementing behaviour strategies and de-escalation techniques
- Supporting students to remain engaged in lessons
- Working closely with teaching and pastoral staff
- Monitoring behaviour and contributing to support plans
- Acting as a positive role model throughout the school day
- Experience working with young people with SEMH needs or challenging behaviour
- Strong behaviour management and de-escalation skills
- A calm, resilient and consistent approach
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
- Enhanced DBS on the update service or dated within the year
- Ability to start ASAP
- A supportive leadership and pastoral team
