Job Description
A Pupil Referral Unit in Dudley is looking for an experienced English Teacher to teach Functional Skills and GCSE English to small classes of students who have faced barriers to education. This rewarding role is ideal for a confident English Teacher who can motivate reluctant learners and help them gain essential qualifications.
As an English Teacher in this PRU, you will deliver engaging and adaptable lessons, support students with varied academic starting points, and create a safe and structured learning space. Strong subject knowledge and excellent classroom management skills are essential.
Job Role:
- Teach Functional Skills and GCSE English to Key Stage 3 and 4 pupils
- Deliver engaging and differentiated lessons that meet individual learning needs
- Support and re-engage students who may be reluctant to learn
- Maintain high expectations and promote positive behaviour
- Work collaboratively with support staff and pastoral teams
- Monitor student progress and implement targeted interventions where required
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS or QTLS)
- Experience teaching English up to GCSE
- Strong behaviour management skills
- Ability to build positive relationships with young people
- Passion for supporting students who have faced challenges in mainstream education
- Support from an experienced leadership and pastoral team
- Small class sizes with additional TA support
- Flexibility to adapt lessons to meet students’ needs
- Access to ongoing CPD and development
