Job Description
A welcoming and supportive special school in Birmingham is seeking a passionate Food Technology Teacher to join their team, teaching secondary-aged students with Autism and moderate learning needs. This is a rewarding opportunity for a QTS Food Technology Teacher who loves creating engaging, practical lessons and wants to make a meaningful difference in a nurturing SEND environment.
As a Food Technology Teacher, you will deliver creative, accessible lessons to small classes, ensuring every student can experience success in the kitchen while developing key life skills. You will be supported by experienced Teaching Assistants, a strong leadership team, and excellent facilities that allow for a hands-on, practical approach to learning. While previous SEND experience is desirable, the school welcomes Food Technology Teachers who are enthusiastic, adaptable, and excited to work in a specialist setting.
Job Role:
- Teaching Food Technology to students with Autism and moderate learning needs.
- Planning and delivering practical, engaging lessons tailored to individual student abilities.
- Working closely with Teaching Assistants to provide consistent support in lessons.
- Supporting students with communication, social skills, and confidence building.
- Creating a calm, structured, and positive learning environment.
- Encouraging independence through practical learning and life-skills focused activities.
- A friendly and supportive team that values collaboration and creativity.
- Excellent specialist facilities designed to enhance practical learning.
