Job Description
Are you an adaptable and resilient SEMH Teacher who thrives in a nurturing, relationship-focused environment? A supportive specialist provision is looking for an SEMH Teacher to join their team, teaching small groups of Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 students who are working at Key Stage 2 ability levels.
This role suits a calm, confident SEMH Teacher who can build trust, deliver engaging lessons across core subjects, and provide the consistency students need to progress both academically and emotionally.as an SEMH Teacher you will be delivering lessons to classes of no more than 8 students who have struggled to engage in a larger setting. You will receive outstanding support from a dedicated team of Teachers and Teaching Assistants, who are focused on providing every student with access to a nurturing education.
Responsibilities include:
- Teaching small classes of students in Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 with SEMH needs.
- Delivering a range of core subjects planned around Key Stage 2 ability levels.
- Creating engaging and accessible learning resources tailored to individual needs.
- Building positive relationships to support students’ emotional regulation, confidence, and motivation.
- Working closely with the pastoral team to ensure consistent, child-centred support.
- Maintaining high expectations for behaviour, attendance, and engagement.
- Communicating effectively with colleagues, parents, and external professionals.
- Contributing to a safe, calm, and inclusive learning environment.
- Qualified Teacher Status.
- Experience as an SEMH Teacher or in a similar specialist or alternative provision setting.
- Strong classroom management and the ability to de-escalate and support emotional needs.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to adapt teaching approaches.
- A genuine commitment to helping students re-engage with learning and achieve positive outcomes.
