SEN Room Lead – SEMH & SEND Support
Are you an experienced and compassionate professional with a passion for supporting students with special educational needs? A secondary school in Walsall is looking for a dedicated individual to take on the role of SEN Room Lead, supporting students with SEMH, ADHD, Autism, and additional needs. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in creating a safe, structured, and nurturing environment for students who require additional support.

As the SEN Room Lead, you will work closely with the SENCO and a team of Teaching Assistants to deliver targeted academic and behavioural interventions, manage day-to-day activity in the SEN room, and guide students in developing self-regulation and positive coping strategies. You will also mentor and lead a team of Teaching Assistants, ensuring they have clear roles and are confident in delivering effective support. This role is ideal for someone with strong communication skills, excellent behaviour management strategies, and a genuine commitment to inclusive education.

Job Role:
  • Supervising and supporting students in the SEN room throughout the school day
  • Leading the delivery of targeted academic, emotional, and behavioural interventions
  • Creating a calm, engaging, and supportive space for students to learn and regulate
  • Working with and supporting Teaching Assistants to deliver effective in-room support
  • Liaising with staff, families, and external agencies to ensure a joined-up approach
  • Supporting reintegration of students into mainstream classrooms where appropriate
  • Monitoring student progress, behaviour, and attendance and reporting to the SENCO
