Job Description
An Alternative Provision in Birmingham is seeking a dynamic, engaging and resilient PE Teacher to join their amazing team. This is a fantastic opportunity to inspire and engage students who have faced challenges in mainstream education, using sport and physical activity to build confidence, teamwork, and a positive mindset.
The school has excellent leadership, dedicated teaching staff, and a strong pastoral team that provides outstanding support for both students and staff. You will be teaching small classes of students who require a tailored approach to learning, with a focus on participation, well-being, and personal development. This role requires a QTS PE Teacher who ideally has experience teaching students who have faced barriers to education.
Job Role:
- Teaching PE to small groups of students with SEMH needs and additional barriers to learning
- Planning and delivering engaging, practical lessons that encourage teamwork and resilience
- Using sport to develop students’ confidence, behaviour, and social skills
- Working closely with pastoral staff to support student well-being
- Managing behaviour effectively, using a positive and structured approach
- Encouraging students to engage in a variety of sports and physical activities
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or relevant coaching qualifications with teaching experience
- Experience working with students with SEMH needs or within an Alternative Provision is desirable
- A patient, adaptable, and energetic approach to teaching
- Strong behaviour management skills and the ability to engage reluctant learners
- A commitment to supporting the personal development of students through sport
