SEND Assessment & Review Officer – Somerset

Rate per day: £280 per day
Contract Role

We are currently recruiting for an experienced SEND Assessment & Review Officer to support Somerset Council with managing a backlog of phase transfers and drafting EHCP plans.
This is a fully remote opportunity ideal for candidates with strong SEND knowledge and experience managing EHCP processes from start to finish.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage a caseload of children and young people within the SEND service
• Work through a backlog of phase transfers
• Draft and amend Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs)
• Complete all stages of the SEND assessment and review process
• Issue amendment notices and consult with schools/settings
• Maintain regular communication with schools, settings and families
• Ensure ownership and accountability for young people on your caseload
• Work to statutory timescales and maintain accurate records

Requirements:

• Previous experience within SEND/EHCP services
• Strong knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice
• Experience drafting EHCPs and amendment notices
• Ability to manage a busy caseload independently
• Excellent communication and organisational skills
• Experience liaising with schools and multi-agency professionals
