Salary: £250 Umbrella paye, day rate
Duration: Temporary, ongoing

Job Purpose:
The Arboricultural Asset Officer is responsible for managing and maintaining the health and safety of trees within the London Borough of Harrow. This role involves conducting inspections, providing arboricultural advice, and ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and policies.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct regular inspections of trees to assess their health, safety, and condition.
• Identify and manage risks associated with trees, including recommending and overseeing necessary remedial actions.
• Provide expert arboricultural advice to internal and external stakeholders.
• Maintain accurate records of tree inspections, works, and management plans.
• Liaise with contractors and oversee tree work operations to ensure compliance with safety standards and specifications.
• Develop and implement tree management strategies and policies.
• Respond to public inquiries and concerns regarding tree management.
• Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, including the Local Government (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 1976 and the Highways Act 1980.
• Collaborate with other departments and agencies to promote tree health and safety.

Qualifications and Experience:

• National Diploma in Arboriculture or equivalent qualification.
• Proven experience in arboricultural management and tree inspection.
• Strong knowledge of arboricultural practices, tree biology, and pest and disease management.
• Familiarity with relevant legislation and industry standards.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Proficiency in using tree management software and GIS systems.

Desirable Skills:

• Membership in a relevant professional body (e.g, Arboricultural Association).
• Experience in managing contracts and working with third-party contractors.
• Knowledge of environmental and conservation principles related to arboriculture.

Working Conditions:

• Primarily outdoor work, with exposure to various weather conditions.
• Occasional office work for report writing and administrative tasks.
• May require physical activity, including climbing and lifting.
