Job Description

Pertemps Crawley are excited to be exclusively supporting our client, a well-established manufacturing business, to appoint a Head of HR to join their reputable and ever-growing SME.

Package & Details:
  • Salary up to £65,000 DOE
  • Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 5:00pm
  • Redhill based + occasional travel

This is a key HR leadership role within a business of circa 130 employees, working as part of a small HR team alongside an HR Advisor. Reporting directly to the Managing Director, you’ll take ownership of the people agenda—balancing strategic direction with a very hands-on approach.
Based at the Redhill head office, you’ll also support additional sites in Crawley and Wales, building strong relationships across operations and ensuring a consistent, high-quality HR approach across the group.
Alongside core HR responsibilities, you’ll play a key role in shaping 2026 priorities, including:
  • Implementation of a new HR system
  • Succession planning and long-term workforce strategy
  • Development of apprenticeship and early careers pathways

As a broad, varied role with real influence across the business, key areas will include:

Leadership & Strategy
  • Partnering with senior leadership to align HR with business goals
  • Leading on organisational design, workforce planning, and change
Hands-on HR Delivery
  • Overseeing all aspects of HR operations—from ER through to recruitment
  • Working closely with and supporting the HR Advisor
  • Supporting managers with practical, commercially sound advice
  • Ensuring compliance, consistency, and strong HR fundamentals
Talent & Culture
  • Driving recruitment across operational and specialist roles
  • Embedding effective onboarding, development, and performance frameworks
  • Supporting a positive, high-performance culture within a manufacturing environment
Multi-site Impact & Improvement
  • Providing visible, consistent HR support across all sites
  • Driving improvements in systems, processes, and reporting

Experience required:
  • Experience at Head of HR level (or similar) within an SME
  • Manufacturing or engineering background essential
  • A hands-on, practical approach alongside strategic capability
  • Strong knowledge of UK employment law
  • Experience working across multi-site operations
  • CIPD Level 5+ qualified (Level 7 desirable)

Why Apply?
This is a rare opportunity to step into a true Head of HR role where you can shape strategy, influence leadership, and stay close to the detail. You’ll have the autonomy to make a real impact in a business that values practical, effective HR, working closely as part of a small but capable HR team.
