Job Description
What you’ll be doing as a Leakage Technical Specialist
As a Leakage Technical Specialist at Thames Water, you'll play a crucial role in tracking water usage, identifying leaks, and ensuring the accuracy of our reporting and insights. Helping Thames Water manage its vast water network efficiently, ensuring clean and safe water for millions of customers.
Key Responsibilities
- Data Analysis & Modelling – Identify trends, forecast water demand, and improve business processes.
- Data Visualisation – Present insights clearly for technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Pipeline Management – Maintain robust data pipelines for reliable reporting.
- Collaboration – Work with engineers, analysts, and stakeholders to translate business needs into action.
- Coaching & Development – Mentor team members in data science skills.
As a Leakage Technical Specialist, you'll be at the heart of improving operational efficiency, ensuring the reliability of our leakage reporting systems, and driving continuous improvements in how Thames Water manages its resources.
Hybrid – Clearwater Court, Reading. (Potential flexibility on location for the right candidate)
You’ll be required to be in the office at least one day per month and as the business requires.
36 hours a week, Monday to Friday.
What you should bring to the role
We’re looking for a curious and analytical problem solver who thrives on working with data and delivering impactful insights. To succeed as a Leakage Technical Specialist, you’ll need:
Essential Skills:
- Strong data analytics and reporting experience, handling large datasets.
- Keen attention to data quality and accuracy.
- Ability to collaborate effectively and solve complex problems.
- Self-motivated, adaptable, and eager to learn.
- Degree or equivalent experience in data science, analytics, or a related field.
- Proficiency in SQL, Python, Power Query, and Power BI.
- Knowledge of statistical modelling, forecasting, and data science techniques.
- Familiarity with GitHub, DevOps, and Agile methodologies.
- Understanding of leakage, water balance calculations, and regulatory reporting.
- Experience in water network management, asset planning, or software development.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Azure, including DevOps.
