Job Description
What you’ll be doing as a Lead Hydraulic Modeller
- Leading on the modelling input to our Drainage and Wastewater Management Plans.
- Utilising the models to identify and quantify key risks across Thames Water’s area, working alongside the planning community, engineering and operational colleagues.
- To become recognised for being a subject matter expert for evaluating data and information derived from hydraulic models to inform the long-term vision for modelling, providing innovative solutions to strategic challenges now and into the future.
- Initiate and manage flow and environmental surveys and advise where additional monitoring can improve our activities and the accuracy of our models.
- Advise on where improvements can be made to our networks to improve resilience, facilitate growth, deal with climate change and improve our efficiency.
- Identifying opportunities to manage growth, prevent pollution, reduce the risk of flooding and help to achieve our carbon net-zero targets.
- Working with others across the wider business and influencing senior leaders and investment decisions.
Hybrid role based in Reading with 2 days a week in our office. 36 hours per week Monday-Friday.
What you should bring to the role
- To am passionate about hydraulic modelling and excited about the opportunity to advance near-real-time modelling at this scale.
- Hold a solid understanding of hydraulic modelling principles and be able to use this knowledge to support and mentor your team.
- Industry experience in modelling & hydraulics, ideally in a sewerage-related role.
- You’ll ideally be chartered or working toward a charter ship in a related field.
- Strong communication skills to communicate effectively with various stakeholders.
- Degree-qualified in engineering, environmental or science-based subjects.
