Sheridan Maine is seeking an experienced and proactive Tax Senior or Tax Manager to join a city based accountancy practice.  This is a fantastic opportunity for a dedicated professional to take the next step in their career, managing a varied client portfolio and delivering high-quality tax compliance and advisory services.

The successful candidate will work closely with partners and other departments, contributing to the firm’s reputation for outstanding client service and technical expertise. 

Responsibilities of the Tax Senior include:
  • Manage a portfolio of personal and/or corporate tax clients.
  • Prepare and review tax returns. 
  • Provide tax planning and advisory services to clients.
  • Identify and mitigate tax risks and ensure compliance with UK tax legislation.
  • Liaise with HMRC on behalf of clients and manage tax investigations or disputes.
  • Supervise and mentor junior staff, reviewing work and providing training.
  • Build strong relationships with clients, understanding their business needs.
  • Contribute to business development initiatives and proposals.
  • Stay updated on tax legislation and industry developments.

The successful Tax Senior:
  • ACA, ACCA, or CTA qualified (or equivalent).
  • Minimum 3–6 years in a tax-focused role within practice or industry.
  • Strong understanding of UK tax compliance and advisory principles.
  • Experience managing a client portfolio and supervising junior staff.
  • Excellent communication, analytical and organisational skills.
  • Commercial awareness and client service orientation. 

Desirable:
  • Experience with inheritance tax, trusts, capital gains tax, or international tax.
  • Knowledge of cloud-based accounting or tax software. 
  • Interest in business development or contributing to internal technical training.
