We are recruiting on behalf of a highly respected, national training organisation at a pivotal stage of growth. This is a rare opportunity for an experienced Adult Skills leader to step into a Director-level role, with genuine strategic influence and responsibility across Skills Bootcamps, Adult Skills Fund (ASF) and Talent/Progression services.
This role sits at the top of the Training leadership structure, reporting directly to the CIO and working alongside the Service Delivery Director to lead and grow the organisation’s Adult Skills provision.

The Role
The organisation is a market leader in Skills Bootcamps and has successfully expanded into Adult Skills Fund delivery over the last 18 months. Together, these form the Adult Skills provision within the Training department.
As Director – Adult Skills & Talent, you will have accountability for all commercial delivery across:
  • Learner Engagement
  • Learner Progressions
  • Talent (Permanent Recruitment)
Leading teams of approximately 30–35 staff, you will ensure strong learner starts, successful outcomes, contract performance and commercial growth.
You will work closely with the CIO to manage time-sensitive, high-value contracts, requiring a leader who is decisive, commercially astute and comfortable operating at pace. This role demands excellent planning, control and senior-level reporting, both internally and externally.
Key Responsibilities
Commercial & Strategic Leadership
  • Full accountability for performance across Skills Bootcamps, Adult Skills Fund and Private Training.
  • Drive learner starts, achievement, progression and sustained employment outcomes.
  • Lead on solution-selling, partnerships and commercial opportunities to support budgets.
  • Maintain oversight of contractual KPIs, learner/employer voice and impact evidence to support extensions and future growth.
Learner Engagement, Progressions & Talent
  • Lead Learner Engagement teams to deliver contracted learner volumes.
  • Lead Progressions and Talent teams to maximise positive learner outcomes and employment.
  • Grow and develop the Talent (Perm) function as a key commercial arm of the business.
Contract, Quality & Compliance
  • Support the CIO in contract management, planning and performance reporting.
  • Work closely with Quality and Funding teams to ensure full compliance with funding rules and quality frameworks.
  • Own and deliver agreed Quality Improvement Plan (QIP) actions.
  • Partner with Service Delivery to ensure strong completion and achievement rates.
Marketing & Growth
  • Agree and monitor marketing plans and spend to support learner attraction and employer engagement.
  • Work with Marketing to forward-plan campaigns, including delivery in new or challenging locations.
  • Champion innovation and new initiatives to drive sustainable growth.
Senior Leadership Contribution
  • Act as a visible, credible senior leader within the organisation.
  • Inspire, develop and lead high-performing teams.
  • Contribute to strategic, operational and ad-hoc projects.
  • Represent and cross-sell all areas of the business.

Candidate Profile
Essential Experience
  • Senior leadership experience within a Grade 2+ education or training provider.
  • Expert knowledge of Adult Skills funding and delivery, ideally across Skills Bootcamps and Adult Skills Fund (ASF).
  • Proven track record delivering adult skills contracts at scale.
  • Strong financial and commercial acumen, including funding models and KPI management.
  • Demonstrable experience leading and growing high-performing teams.
