Library Advisor

Pertemps are recruiting Ad Hoc Evening Library Advisors for temporary ongoing work across Edinburgh libraries.


📍 Location: Edinburgh – various library locations
🕒 Hours of work: Evening shifts (17:00–20:00) offered as required
💷 Pay rate: £14.51 per hour
📅 Duration: Temporary ongoing
🔑 Immediate start


A PVG Certificate is required (£59 for a new application or £18 to update an existing certificate).


The Role

You will provide ad hoc cover across library branches, supporting daily operations and assisting members of the public.


Duties include:
• Providing customer service to library users
• Supporting day-to-day library operations
• Assisting with council services, including bus pass applications
• Helping visitors use computers, online services and digital resources
• Supporting community activities and events
• Maintaining a welcoming and inclusive environment


Requirements
• Strong communication and customer service skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Flexible availability and willingness to work across different locations
• Comfortable working varied shifts offered via text notification system
