Pertemps are working with our public sector client to recruit a Janitor on a temporary basis.
Location: Edinburgh North (Pilton)
Hours: Rotating shift pattern – 4 early shifts (07:30–15:30), followed by 2 days off, then 4 late shifts (14:00–22:30), followed by 2 days off
Pay Rate: £14.51 per hour
Duration: Temporary 3 months (potential extension)
Start Date: ASAP

About the Role
As a Janitor, you’ll be responsible for ensuring that multi-storey blocks and surrounding areas are clean, secure, and welcoming for residents. This is a varied role combining both office-based duties and hands-on estate management.

About the Role
As a Janitor, you’ll be responsible for ensuring that multi-storey blocks and surrounding areas are clean, secure, and welcoming for residents. This is a varied role combining both office-based duties and hands-on estate management.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Carrying out regular patrols to ensure buildings and estates are safe and well maintained.
- Monitoring CCTV, door entry, and IT systems to support security and resident access.
- Acting as a first point of contact for tenant queries and resolving or escalating issues.
- Managing administrative tasks such as issuing fobs and maintaining records.
- Cleaning and maintaining communal areas including lifts, foyers, and litter chutes.
- Conducting litter picks and ensuring outdoor areas remain tidy and presentable.
- Supporting emergency cover where required at short notice.
- Reliable, flexible, and able to work a rotating shift pattern (early, late, weekends)
- Comfortable balancing office-based tasks with hands-on cleaning and estate duties.
- A strong communicator who can engage effectively with residents and visitors.
- Proactive in identifying and addressing issues to maintain high standards.
- Able to work independently and as part of a team.
