Job Description

Pertemps are delighted to be working with our public sector client to recruit a Housing Assistant on a temporary basis.

Role: Housing Assistant – Rent Arrears & Housing Management Support
Location: Edinburgh South East
Hours: Monday to Friday (36 hours per week)
Pay Rate: £14.02 per hour
Duration: Temporary Ongoing
Start Date: Immediate

What You’ll Be Doing
  • Supporting Housing Officers with rent arrears cases, including monitoring accounts and early intervention work
  • Assisting with general housing management tasks across the locality team
  • Contacting tenants by phone, email and in person to discuss rent accounts and payment options
  • Updating housing systems with accurate case notes and financial information
  • Supporting tenancy sustainment through advice, signposting and practical assistance
  • Handling customer enquiries professionally and sensitively
  • Assisting with estate-related tasks, inspections and wider housing support activities
  • Working to deadlines and contributing to effective service delivery

What We’re Looking For
  • Previous experience in an administrative or customer-focused role
  • Confidence communicating with customers, including around sensitive financial matters
  • Strong organisational skills with excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to work well as part of a team and manage competing priorities
  • Confident using Microsoft Office and internal systems
  • A calm, professional and supportive approach
Desirable:
  • Experience in housing, rent arrears, income recovery or local authority services
  • Experience working within a locality or neighbourhood-based team
