Senior Business Accountant (Business Accounts)
Location:  London
Pay rate: £39.56 per hour
Hours: 35 hours per week
Working Pattern: Monday – Friday
Start Date: ASAP
Duration: Approx. 12 weeks

Overview

This role is working for a national membership/ regulatory body HQ in central London. As one of three Business Accountants, you will oversee two Assistant Business Accountants and provide expert financial guidance to Senior Management and budget holders. Your responsibilities include ensuring the accuracy and relevance of monthly management reports and leading the quarterly forecasting process. 

During the busy year-end period, you will liaise with external auditors and supply necessary information. Building strong relationships with budget holders across various directorates is crucial.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and support two Assistant Business Accountants.
  • Provide financial advice to Senior Management and budget holders.
  • Ensure monthly management reports are accurate and complete.
  • Lead the quarterly forecasting process.
  • Liaise with external auditors during the year-end period.
  • Establish strong working relationships with budget holders.

Requirements

Qualifications: CCAB/CIMA professional accountancy qualification and current membership.
Software Skills: Proficiency in a recognised accounting software package (ideally Open Accounts).
Knowledge: Up to date with accounting standards, regulations, data protection, and confidentiality.

Experience:
  • Producing accurate management accounts.
  • Budget setting and forecasting.
  • Leading and managing staff.
  • Year-end processes.
  • Data import/export to accounting software.
  • Working in fast-paced environments.
  • Developing systems for continual improvement.
Skills:
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, and Outlook.
  • Delivering training sessions to non-financial managers.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritise tasks, and meet deadlines.
  • Strong analytical skills for problem-solving.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Handling sensitive information confidently.
