Job Description

Pertemps technical are recruiting for a Manufacturing Process Engineer on behalf of our client to join their manufacturing team based in Bradley Stoke. This role supports production operations by improving manufacturing processes, facilitating new product introductions, and leading efficiency and ergonomic improvement initiatives. 

Location: BS32 – Bradley Stoke
Annual Salary: £46,000-£48,000 DOE 
Shift: Monday to Friday 8am-5pm

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop, refine, and optimize production processes, work instructions, and tooling specifications to enhance productivity, quality, and repeatability.
  • Support smooth new product introductions by collaborating closely with design, engineering, and production teams to ensure manufacturability and assembly efficiency.
  • Identify and implement cost-saving measures by streamlining processes, reducing waste, improving material usage, and minimizing downtime.
  • Utilize Creo to update, optimize, and validate technical drawings, 3D models, and assemblies, ensuring accurate documentation for manufacturing.
  • Manage design changes and product data through Windchill PLM or equivalent, maintaining data integrity and effective communication across departments.
  • Coach and mentor operators, technicians, and production staff on new processes, equipment use, and best manufacturing practices to build team capability and confidence.
  • Act as a primary liaison between engineering, production, and quality teams to proactively identify, communicate, and resolve manufacturing challenges or quality issues.
  • Conduct ergonomic assessments of production workstations to improve operator comfort, reduce risk of injury, and boost overall safety.
  • Design and implement tools, jigs, fixtures, and other aids to support ergonomic, efficient, and standardized manufacturing practices.
  • Recommend and lead layout and workflow redesign initiatives to optimize shop floor space, reduce unnecessary movement, and enhance productivity.
  • Lead continuous improvement projects using Lean Manufacturing principles such as 5S, Kaizen, SMED, and value stream mapping to minimize waste and improve flow.
  • Support cost-reduction efforts by analyzing labor efficiency, equipment utilization, and material consumption, using data-driven insights to inform decisions.
  • Lead root cause analysis investigations on production issues, employing structured problem-solving methodologies to identify causes and implement effective corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with suppliers and internal teams to resolve design, quality, and build concerns ensuring alignment with manufacturing capabilities and standards.
  • Monitor production metrics and key performance indicators (KPIs) to evaluate process effectiveness and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Drive a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement through training, communication, and leadership engagement.
  • Support the development and maintenance of manufacturing documentation including standard operating procedures (SOPs), work instructions, and quality records.
  • Stay current with industry best practices, emerging technologies, and regulatory requirements relevant to manufacturing and product development.
Essential Skills and Qualifications
  • Degree or equivalent in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Production Engineering (or related).
  • Proficient in Creo 3D CAD software.
  • Experienced with Windchill or similar Product Lifecycle Management systems.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, assembly methods, and design for manufacture (DFM).
  • Proven ability to deliver process improvements and cost reductions.
  • Skilled at coaching, mentoring, and influencing operators and technicians.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and analytical skills.
  • Knowledgeable in ergonomics and practical applications within manufacturing.
Desirable Skills
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other Continuous Improvement methodologies.
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001 quality systems and production documentation.
  • Experience working with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Microsoft Dynamics).
  • Background in similar consumer appliance sectors.
