Yard Operative

We are seeking a reliable and motivated Temporary Yard Operatives to provide essential cover for our client, a busy operation based in Leighton Buzzard. This role is offered on a flexible, as-needed basis to cover holidays, sickness, and other operational requirements. This is an excellent opportunity for someone seeking flexible work with a good hourly rate.

Key Details:
Location: Leighton Buzzard
Hours: Generally 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM (though flexibility may occasionally be required)
Pay Rate: £12.50 per hour
Contract Type: Temporary, Cover When Required (zero-hour contract basis)

Main Responsibilities:
The Yard Operative will be responsible for maintaining the smooth and efficient running of the yard. Duties will include, but are not limited to:

• Goods Handling: Assisting with the loading and unloading of deliveries and customer orders, ensuring accuracy and careful handling of materials.
• Stock Management: Organising, tidying, and maintaining the stock within the yard and warehouse areas. This includes appropriate storage and rotation of materials.
• General Maintenance: Keeping the yard clean, safe, and free from hazards at all times. This includes sweeping, waste disposal, and general upkeep.
• Equipment Operation: Operating machinery such as counterbalance forklift trucks (if licensed-see requirements below) to move materials around the yard.
• Customer Service: Assisting customers and delivery drivers in a polite and helpful manner.
• Health & Safety: Adhering strictly to all site health and safety procedures and wearing required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
