Location: Buckley (covering North Wales - flexible base)
Salary: £36,246 rising to £39,942 per annum (with annual increments)
Contract Type: Permanent
Hours: Full time, 37 hours per week (part time, annualised hours, compressed hours or term time working considered - discussions welcome at interview)
The Role
We are recruiting for a skilled MEICA Engineer (Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation, Control & Automation) to join a specialist team responsible for delivering critical infrastructure across Wales.
This role is hands-on and varied, combining reactive and planned maintenance, project delivery, and technical oversight of essential MEICA assets. Working with our MEICA Term Contractor, you'll issue and monitor work programmes, resolve faults, respond to incidents, and provide key technical input on projects and capital improvements.
You'll also be part of a standby rota (1 week in 7) with additional pay:
£200 uplift per standby week
Double pay for any unsociable hours callouts
Most issues can be resolved remotely, and you'll never be working alone.
This is a fantastic opportunity for a motivated engineer who wants to use their skills to support vital environmental infrastructure across North Wales.
What You'll Be Doing
- Managing reactive and planned maintenance programmes using CMMS and AMX systems.
- Issuing work programmes, monitoring contractor progress, and reporting on outstanding tasks.
- Identifying and resolving equipment faults and supporting emergency responses.
- Procuring goods and services for project delivery.
- Contributing to design and specification of MEICA refurbishment works.
- Providing technical input and project management for MEICA-specific projects.
- Reviewing designs (PDR/CDR) and ensuring compliance with safety standards.
- Participating in the MEICA standby rota.
- Supporting capital projects up to £50k.
- Promoting health & safety best practice in all activities.
What We're Looking For
- Degree-level qualification in a MEICA engineering discipline (HND considered with experience).
- Recognised Health & Safety certification (IOSH minimum).
- 3-5 years' hands-on experience in a multi-discipline MEICA environment.
- Strong working knowledge of: industrial control systems, motor starters, PLCs, HMIs, SCADA, pumps, sluice gates, CCTV systems.
- Experience managing high-risk work (contractors, confined spaces, working near water) is desirable.
- Confident IT user (MS Office, CMMS, AutoCAD).
- Strong organisational skills with ability to manage projects and contractors.
- Willingness to be part of a standby rota (extra pay provided).
- Full UK driving licence.
Welsh Language Requirements
Essential: Level A1 (entry level - able to use simple, basic phrases and greetings).
NRW will provide support and training if you don't currently meet this level.
