The role and opportunity
As a Design Engineer, you will be at the forefront of developing and implementing designs for new products, projects, and components with a leading surface blasting company. Collaboration across departments is essential, ensuring that every design meets technical requirements, industry standards, and customer expectations.
 

• Create detailed design drawings, specifications, and models using SolidWorks and AutoCAD
• Perform engineering analysis to assess design options, materials, and manufacturing processes
• Collaborate with sales managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to define project requirements and objectives, including preparing layout drawings for customer approval
• Conduct design reviews and integrate feedback to enhance product performance and reliability
• Support prototyping, testing, and validation to ensure design feasibility and functionality
• Ensure compliance with industry standards, regulations, and company policies
• Prepare technical documentation, including design reports, manuals, bills of materials (BOMs), method statements, and risk assessments
• Troubleshoot design-related issues and provide technical support throughout the product lifecycle
• Oversee the day-to-day management of projects
• Conduct site surveys as needed and liaise with customers to meet installation requirements
• Contribute to research and development (R&D) activities as required

 
Our ideal candidate

• HNC/bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, Electrical Engineering, Product Design, or a related field
• Proven experience as a Design Engineer or similar role in manufacturing/engineering
• Proficiency in CAD software e.g., SolidWorks and AutoCAD
• Strong understanding of engineering principles, materials and manufacturing processes
• Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and technical skills
• Strong communication and teamwork abilities
• Attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality work
